Waiting for playersβ¦
The game begins automatically once every slot has a player.
Base costs shown, the Architect's privilege and each staffed quarry knock 1πͺ off when you build. "Left" is how many copies remain in the supply.
Most prestige β when the game ends. You earn β three ways:
The game ends at the end of the round in which any of these happens:
Highest total β wins. Tie-break: most goods + doubloons.
Rough guide: ship early and often, grab a Harbor/Wharf if you ship a lot, or build toward a staffed large building, pure coins win nothing.
Score the most prestige β. You earn β by shipping goods and from the printed β value of your buildings (plus big end-game bonuses from large buildings).
Starting with the Governor π and going clockwise, each player picks one role. When you pick a role, every player performs its action in turn order, but you get the role's bonus (its privilege). Any role nobody picks gains +1 πͺ to tempt the next picker. After everyone has picked once, the Governor passes left and a new round begins. Note: the new Governor picked last in the previous round and picks first in the new one, two picks in a row is normal (and very noticeable in 2-player games).
Five goods. Corn π½ needs no building. Indigo π¦, Sugar π, Tobacco π, Coffee π« each need their production building and a worker in it, plus a staffed plantation of that crop. Sale prices: π½ 0 Β· π¦ 1 Β· π 2 Β· π 3 Β· π« 4.
π§βπΎ Workers are the key constraint: a plantation or building does nothing until a worker staffs it.
Each cargo ship carries one good type; you can't start a ship with a good already on another ship. Every barrel shipped = 1 β. At the end of the Shipwright phase, goods you didn't ship spoil; you keep just one barrel (more if you own depots).
Buildings cost πͺ and show their β value. Violet buildings give powers when staffed; large (2-space) buildings give large end-game β bonuses. Each staffed quarry πͺ¨ discounts your builds.
The game ends at the end of the round when any happens: the worker supply runs out, a player fills their 12th town space, or the β chips run out. Most β wins (tie β most goods + πͺ).
π‘ Tip: hover over anything on the board, roles, plantations, ships, buildings, for a quick explanation.
